With a yearn to discover more about my heritage and my parents, I have spent the past two years learning and capturing the story of my parents' escape from Cu Ly, Vietnam to America in 1980.  Five years after the Vietnam War ended, Vietnam was still undergoing a civil war as communism overtook the entire country.  Seeing their friends and family die at the hands of communists, my parents, at the age of 17 and newly in love, escaped their poor, fisherman's village by boat in search of a brighter future for their family.
